Dr. GustaV Gates Becomes first texan to receive the life long Learning & service recognition Award from AGD

The Highly Distinguished LLSR award focuses on the continued achievements of AGD Masters who remain current in their profession and are exemplary in serving their community. Seven other members from around the country also received the LLSR award in 2007.

Recipients are recognized leaders in the dental profession, have completed 500 hours of FAGD/MAGD approved CE credits, and have completed 100 service points in any combination of dental related community service. All of which must have been accomplished since attaining Mastership in the AGD.

Dr. Gates, a native of Seguin, Texas, is a 1971 graduate of the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. He has been a member of the AGD since 1976 and received his Fellowship in 1984 and Mastership in 1993. Dr. Gates is an alumnus of the Pankey Institute and the Seattle Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. Along with the AGD, Dr. Gates is also a member of the ADA, TDA, Central Texas Dental Society and is a participating dentist of Temple Community Free Clinic. Dr. Gates has maintained a private practice in Temple for over 30 years.

Dr. ron collins named 2007 texas dentist of the year.

Dr. Ron Collins, of Houston, Texas, received the award for 2007 Texas Dentist of the YearTM from the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. He was nominated by the Greater Houston Dental Society. The award has been presented annually since 1965 and is considered one of the most prestigious honors a Texas dentist can earn.

Dr. Collins was one of only 17 dentists nominated for this year’s award and was honored, alongside his colleagues, in a special ceremony at a gala on Friday, September 7, 2007 during Texas Academy of General Dentistry’s annual Lone Star Dental Conference in Austin. Each nominee was recognized and received an engraved plaque. The gala concluded with the announcement of the 2007 Texas Dentist of the Year and Dr. Collins was presented with the trophy.
