AGD Fellowship

What is FAGD? MAGD?

A General Dentist who is Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) or Master in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) is committed to quality patient care through quality continuing dental education. Both Fellows and Masters have accepted the charge to keep abreast of advances in dentistry for the benefit of patients and the betterment of dentistry.

About Fellowship ~

To earn the Fellowship Award, members must earn a minimum of 500 approved continuing dental education credits and pass a comprehensive 400-question examination. Dentists must also be an Academy of General Dentistry member for five continuous years and attend the Convocation Ceremony held at the Annual Meeting. Participation hours earned while working on Fellowship can be applied to Mastership.

The requirements for AGD Fellowship are:

  1. Pass the FAGD Examination.
  2. Earn a minimum of 500 FAGD approved CE credits.
  3. Maintain three consecutive years of AGD membership.
  4. Apply for the FAGD award by December 15.
  5. Once approved, attend the Convocation Ceremony.

About Mastership ~

To attain Mastership, members must first have attained Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry. They must then earn an additional 600 approved continuing education credits, meeting minimum requirements in certain dental disciplines, of which 400 hours are hands-on courses. Thus, a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry has taken a total of 1,100 hours of continuing education and studied 16 disciplines in dentistry.
