Course Description
In this lecture we will discuss some of the biggest opportunities and common pitfalls of transition for both a buyer and seller. We will discuss financial considerations on both sides. For buyers we will talk about what to look for in a practice opportunity – what can be resolved and what items may be a bigger hurdle to clear. For sellers we will discuss how to prepare yourself and your practice for the practice transition process to maximize value. You’ll learn it’s never too early to consider transition – education (and preparation) is key!
About Christy Ratcliff, CPA, CVA
National Dental Placements (NDP), an affiliate of Cain Watters & Associates (CWA), was founded in 2005 with the mission of helping young dentists find established practices and assisting in their transition to ownership. While this is still an integral part of our mission, we have realized the importance of the dental transition to both the young and established dentist and have expanded the scope of our services to ensure our clients are prepared, confident and that their transitions meet their personal and professional goals. Christy graduated with her BBA and MS in Accounting from Texas A&M University. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). Christy joined NDP in 2014 to oversee the overall operations and to assist in the development and oversight of NDP’s valuation and consulting services. She utilizes her unique background of accounting, consulting, valuation, and relationship building to assist NDP clients as they reach their transition goals. Christy is passionate about education and believes the greatest asset when facing an unknown experience is data. Her goal is to empower clients with information they need to feel confident that they are making the right decision.

The local AGD components in Texas take pride in being a trusted resource for members and they are closely monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. Their top priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our dental community. At this time, they will be proceeding with online meetings in addition to limited in-person meetings that will strictly follow CDC guidelines. They are encouraging a few simple preventative measures to limit the spread of COVID-19:
Promote the daily practice of everyday preventive actions. All attendees should practice daily good health habits to prevent the spread of any virus. Please review the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations for everyday preventive actions.
Individuals who are sick are discouraged from attending in-person events or to leave events if they begin to experience symptoms. If you have symptoms of a virus, which could include fever, cough, and shortness of breath, you are discouraged from attending the event and encouraged to follow CDC guidelines. If you become sick at the event, please promptly follow CDC guidelines, and notify event organizer by email or phone. In addition, if you believe you have been in close contact with someone who has been exposed to the COVID-19 virus, you are also discouraged from attending any in-person meetings and it is recommended you follow CDC guidance on what to do when sick. Together, all of us can help stop the spread. To access resources, please visit TAGD.org/Coronavirus.
Cancelations received in writing up to five (5) business days prior to the event date will receive a refund, minus a 20% handling fee. Cancelations after this date are non-refundable.
