Course Description
Understanding the key concepts of diagnosis and treatment planning for implant restorations is an important skill in today’s modern dental practice. Anatomy, bone quality, occlusion and other factors significantly influence the placement, functional load capacity and esthetic outcome when implants are utilized to restore the dentition to final form, function and esthetics. Additionally, as implants are commonplace in our patient population, navigating the multitude of complications for implant restorations presents challenges. We will review all these factors to make implant dentistry more successful in your dental practice. Finally, this discussion will emphasize those key concepts that will prepare you for challenging the Fellowship Examination as you pursue your Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry.

Course Objectives

  • Review key diagnosis and treatment planning considerations for implant restoration
  • Introduce diagnostic criteria for both removable and fixed prosthetic cases using implants
  • Discuss basic implant types and restorative options for various clinical scenarios
  • Highlight the common periodontal maintenance practices for long term implant success
  • Trouble shoot common problems when implants or implant restorations fail
  • Provide tips for successfully challenging the Fellowship Examination
